Celebrating the Life of Leona Rowe

Leona Taylor Rowe went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 17, 2022. Born January 16, 1937, in Kinston, NC. She was the daughter of the late Carl Taylor and Leona Jarman Taylor. She was the wife of the late Joseph Cecil Rowe whom she was married to for nearly 60 years and who died in 2015.

 

Leona was a member of Crosswind Church where she was active in ministry until her last days. She attended the Adult Bible Class on Sunday mornings where she participated in singing hymns of the faith, enjoyed time spent with OASIS Senior Adult Ministry, Prime Ministers where she prayed and visited friends in the hospital and nursing homes, Saturday Morning Prayer and served on the Sunday morning Prayer Team and Guest Services. Leona and her husband, Joe, pastored the former Westminster Church of God (Crosswind Church) from April 1972-August 1976 and the Odenton Church of God from 1983-1997 when a stroke forced her husband to retire. She had previously worked for Western Electric and the Church of God State Office as a secretary. 

 

She enjoyed working in her flower beds and yard on her farmette and sitting on her back porch enjoying bird watching and wildlife, who frequently visited her back yard. She also enjoyed listening to the Orioles play baseball on her radio while sitting on the porch and watching the Ravens play football. 

 

Surviving is her son, Harold Rowe and wife Brenda, Daughter-in-Law Donna Rowe; Grandchildren Evan Rowe and wife Melissa, Mitchell Rowe and wife Ally, Erin Deli and husband Bryan, Tyler Rowe and fiancé Michelle Singer and Shane Rowe and wife Mikayla; brother, Mercer Taylor. She was GiGi to her Great Grandchildren, Dustin Rowe, Allie Rowe and Charlotte Deli. 

 

She was predeceased by her son, Scott Mitchell Rowe and siblings, Carl Taylor, Louise Becker, Ruth Gormley, Inez Taylor, Charles Taylor, Vara Prendergast, James Taylor and Josephine Stroud.
