COVID-19 Update

We have been closely monitoring the constant updates and flow of information regarding the COVID-19 pandemic here in our area. During this time, it is our desire to keep our congregation and community safe while also obeying and respecting our State and National leaders’ guidelines. Until this public health crisis has ended and the restrictions on social distancing and large gatherings have been lifted we will not be having any public gatherings on our church property.

We are working on a plan to get our Deeds of Faith Food Pantry up and running so that people who are in need of food can get it in a safe and healthy manner. Many of our volunteers who serve at the pantry and members of the community who shop there are elderly and/or have preexisting medical conditions that puts them in the category for highest risk when it comes to the COVID-19 disease. In the meantime, the Deeds of Faith Food Pantry will remain closed and we will update you when we are able to reopen in the next few weeks.

Ending Food Insecurity, One Family at a Time

Maryland is home to 650,200 people, including 204,660 children, who don’t always know where their next meal is coming from. Despite being one of the wealthiest states in the nation, Maryland’s communities are deeply impacted by food insecurity. People from all walks of life find themselves in need of food assistance from time to time and for a variety of reasons.

In response to this great need, the Deeds of Faith Food Pantry was started over 20 years ago by a member of Crosswind Church (formerly known as Westminster Church of God.) Initially starting small by helping a handful of families each week out of a classroom in the church, the pantry quickly grew to its own facility on the church property where we now serve an average of 60 to 90 families per week. By serving this number of families we are currently making an impact in the lives of over 150 individuals per week.

Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Times are tough and many feel they are all alone, but we are here to tell you that you are not alone. God loves you and He has a plan for your life.

Everyone is welcome at the Deeds of Faith Food Pantry, no matter what walk of life you are coming from!

The Food Pantry is here to serve our community by providing a source of food for as many families as possible. In order to make your pantry shopping run smoothly we ask that you do the following:

1. Shopping at the pantry is limited to once per week. You cannot shop on any 2 consecutive pantry shopping days.

2. Upon entering the building please print your name in the Sign-in log located in our waiting area. Then please wait to be called into our pantry to begin shopping. Shoppers are called in the order they have signed into our log.

3. Because our pantry area is small we limit the number of shoppers at any one time. We try to have a supply of used plastic grocery bags for your shopping use, however you are also welcome to bring your own bags. The used bags are in a bin located in our waiting area. When you enter the pantry one of our workers will direct you to where to begin shopping.

4. As you are shopping you will notice limit signs that we ask you to please follow. The limit signs are there because we have a limited quantity of an item and we try to share with as many families as possible.

5. At any time if you should have any questions, concerns or need assistance please feel free to ask one of our staff members. We are here to help you!

Thank you for shopping at our food pantry and following our guidelines.
