Bishop Paul L. Cushing, 94, of Hampstead, quietly and peacefully left this world for his long anticipated heavenly home on Tuesday, November 15, 2022. Born February 9, 1928 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Marion and Goldie Cushing. He was the husband of the late Harriett Cushing, his beloved wife of 68 years.

Paul served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater. After his honorable discharge, he held multiple jobs in the construction industry and would later go on to become a bi-vocational pastor. Paul was an avid woodworker and loved spending time in his shop.

Paul and Harriett founded the Westminster Church of God (now Crosswind Church) in 1968. Paul remained a dedicated member and staff pastor until his last day. He was responsible for the construction of 90 churches over his life, including his home church in Westminster. In his latter years, he taught the Adult Bible Class on Sunday mornings with his daughter Jennie and also ministered to those who were sick and homebound with the Prime Ministers. Paul and Harriett lead the OASIS Senior Adults Ministry at Crosswind Church where they had many close friends.

Surviving are daughters, Deborah Lee Cushing of Hampstead, and Jennie Elizabeth Cushing of Hampstead; his son-in-law Lennie Amato, 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Harriett Cushing and daughter Donna Lynn Amato.

Paul will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg, MD with his wife Harriett.
