Our COVID-19 Reopening Strategy

Updated june 4, 2020

On Wednesday, May 13, 2020 Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced that our state would be moving into Phase 1 of the Maryland Strong Roadmap to Recovery. During this phase, Churches have been permitted to reopen to the public and hold services at no more than 50% capacity with a total max occupancy of 250.

Here at Crosswind we are committed to not only honoring our state, local, and federal leaders, but also ensuring we can make our church a safe place to worship. Following the guidance put out by the State of Maryland and recommendations of the Carroll County Health Department regarding the reopening of Churches:

In Person Services Have Resumed!

Sundays at 10:00 AM

Every Person. Every Place.

There are 3 ways for you to join us for church on Sundays at 10:00 AM:

Livestream

We will continue to offer our Sunday morning, Crosswind Kids, and Crosswind Students services on our livestream so that everyone can enjoy church no matter where they are.

Drive-in

The drive-in service option is available during our Sunday morning and Wednesday night Crosswind Students services. Participating in our drive-in service is simple. Park your car anywhere on our church property and tune your radio to FM 95.7. You will be able to hear the entirety of the service live from the comfort and safety of your car! Be sure to bring some communion elements with you if you are planning on using this drive-in service option.

In Person

The reopening of our building to the public has been planned with great care and strong adherence to state, local, and federal guidance. Our Sunday Morning and Wednesday Night Crosswind Students services are currently reopened to in person services. If you plan to attend in person, please read all of the information below.

A New Way for Families to Attend Together

We have created a special way for families to gather together here at the church and enjoy our Sunday morning service. Outside at our playground, which is located on the RT. 27 side of the building, we have a loudspeaker set up that will play our FM radio broadcast. This enables the kids to play safely outside and parents to enjoy the service! This is, of course, weather permitting.

In Person Services

As we begin the process of reopening, attending one of our services in person will be different, but every detail has been planned to not only be in compliance with state, local, and federal guidelines, but to ensure the safety of everyone in our congregation. Over the last two months we have taken time to deep clean and sanitize our building. Our cleaning crew is actively committed to sanitize and clean the building on a weekly basis. You can rest assured that while you are inside of our building, it has been thoroughly prepared for your arrival. We look forward to once again being able to worship with our church family in person!

Do Not Come if You Are Sick

We ask that if you or anyone in your immediate family is sick and/or has a fever, please stay home. For those who have pre-existing conditions that would make them more susceptible to COVID-19 or are immunocompromised, it is recommended that you stay home.

Masks Are Strongly Recommended

It is strongly recommended that you come to church with a mask and keep it on the entire time you are in the building. Our staff and Dream Team will be wearing masks during our services. This is not only for your own protection, but to protect those around you. We understand some cannot wear masks for various reasons so we are providing the options of either drive-in or livestreaming services for your convenience. There is an area of our building designated as a "Masks Required Area". More information provided below.

Social Distancing is Key

The only way we are permitted to gather is if we strongly adhere to social distancing. This means keeping a 6-7 foot distance between you and others who are not in your immediate family and/or household. It is also recommended that you refrain from shaking hands, hugging, and other forms of physical interaction. We have prepared our facility to allow for a maximum of 250 people (50% capacity). This includes spacing our chairs throughout the building and providing multiple rooms for viewing the service so that our congregation can spread out.

No Food or Drink Provided

For the time being, we will not be offering food or drink through our cafe. This is in an effort to minimize cross contamination. You are permitted to bring coffee and snacks from home.

During the Service

  • Service will be kept to 1 hour.
  • Entrances and exits to the building are available on either side of the main sanctuary only.
  • Restrooms are available, but it is strongly recommended that you only use them if it is necessary.
  • Seating in our main sanctuary is limited and offered on a first come, first serve basis.
  • The Prayer Room, Cafe, and Foyer will be available for additional seating to view the service.
  • Hand sanitizer is available throughout the building.
  • There will be no greeting time during the service.
  • Prepackaged Communion is provided at each seat and will be taken at the end of service.
  • Online Giving is strongly recommended.
  • Bulletins, connection cards, and sermon notes are available exclusively online.

Mask Required Area

  • Our Youth Chapel has been prepared and designated as a Mask Required Area.
  • You must be 18 years or older to attend church in this area.
  • Restrooms located by the Youth Chapel are also designated as a Mask Required Area  and are reserved for those who are viewing the service in the Youth Chapel.
  • The Main Office/Youth Chapel entrance to the building is only for those who wish to attend service in the Youth Chapel.
  • Access to the hallway leading to the Youth Chapel side of the building will be restricted.
  • This is to allow our seniors and those who would otherwise be at risk to gather in a safe environment while practicing social distancing and the wearing of masks.
  • To prevent cross-contamination and increased exposure, traveling back and forth from the Mask Required Area to other parts of the building is prohibited.

Crosswind Kids

  • For the time being there will be no Crosswind Kids classes available during our Sunday Service.
  • We will continue to follow the lead of our public school and daycare systems to determine the availability of Crosswind Kids classes.
  • We will continue to offer our Crosswind Kids Live service on our livestream Sundays at 9:00 AM.
  • Kids are permitted to attend our Sunday service provided they remain with their family at all times.
  • Weather permitting, families can gather outside at the playground (RT. 27 side of the building) and listen to the FM radio broadcast on the loudspeaker.

Crosswind Students

  • There will be no Club-68 Middle School class offered on Sundays.
  • Crosswind Students will host in person services will be Wednesdays at 7:00 PM in the Main Sanctuary.
  • It is strongly recommended that students wear masks while they are in the building.
  • Students will be asked to adhere to social distancing while they are in the building.
  • Access to areas of the building other than the Main Sanctuary, Main Sanctuary Lobby, Cafe, and Bathrooms will be restricted.
  • The Wednesday night service will continue to be live-streamed on Facebook, our Website, the myCrosswind Mobile App and YouTube.
  • The Wednesday night service will be available for drive-in attendance. Tune your radio to FM 95.7.

Summer Picnics

This summer we will be hosting three picnics in order to have time to gather together and have fun. To comply with health department and CDC guidelines, these picnics will be B.Y.O.P. (Bring Your Own Picnic). This means that each family is encouraged to bring everything needed to enjoy a meal outdoors. If you have lawn games or group activities that can be played with social distancing in mind, you may bring them. We will not be providing food, drinks, plates, napkins, utensils, or cups. This is in an effort to minimize cross-contamination. Bringing food from a local restaurant is permitted. We encourage you to support local small businesses as much as possible! Crosswind Students will not meet for their Wednesday night service on these weeks.
